Course Description/Overview
This course is designed to prepare students to evaluate and treat patients with a wide variety of peripheral and central vestibular disorders and to evaluate and establish treatment plans for concussed individuals. It will build on previous required coursework in treating patients with neurological disorders, and will provide students with advanced knowledge in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation as well as concussion management for athletes, non-athletes and military service members or veterans. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based interventions and trends in current research. The course will include case studies, group discussion, student presentations, and practice working with simulated and/or actual patients. Students will also be introduced to interdisciplinary management with other disciplines such as neuropsychology and audiology through a series of off-site visits.
