Dear Members of the Campus Community,
In response to campus messages sent over the past week regarding Thanksgiving, we have received several requests for clarification regarding expectations for the campus community as a whole following the break.
On November 13, 2020, Gov. Jay Inslee issued a travel advisory recommending that people arriving in Washington from other states or countries, including returning Washington residents, practice self-quarantine for 14 days upon return. The university also has a temporary travel policy that strongly discourages international travel and non-essential domestic travel during the pandemic. We follow guidance from the Washington state governor’s office, including restrictions that are currently in place through Dec. 14. Please note:
- All residential students are required to quarantine after the Thanksgiving break until they receive a negative test and are required to test during our Dec. 3 testing day on campus. Students may leave quarantine to get food and be tested (and wear a mask and stay 6 ft. away from others).
- CHWS recommends that anyone (students, faculty, or staff members) traveling out of state quarantine for 14 days upon return and that those who gather with people outside their households quarantine until completing COVID testing and receiving a negative result (either at the Dec. 3 campus testing or a testing location of your choice). It is best to wait to test until at least 5 days after potential exposure. Additional testing resources are available at: https://www.tpchd.org/healthy-people/diseases/covid-19/testing-information. Staff may use their accrued sick leave or vacation hours while they are in quarantine.
