Supervisors of Student Staff Members, use this calendar to note important dates and deadlines in the student employment annual cycle of activities. Please contact Career and Employment Services (CES) if you have questions.

 

2023 Summer Academic Term

May 15–Aug. 27 Start and end dates for summer student employment.
June 30 End of fiscal year. All hours worked through June 30 must be approved in the upcoming payroll process.

2023 Fall Academic Term

Aug. 19 First-Year and Transfer Student Federal and State Work-Study Orientation Session: Students receive job referrals and will begin contacting supervisors.
Aug. 28 Students who have accepted Job Offers may access their timesheet in PeopleSoft HR and are authorized* to begin working in academic year positions. *Before beginning work as a university employee, all student staff members must complete required Form I-9.
Sept. 1 End of first week of classes. If you have a job open and no student has contacted you yet, notify CES.
Oct. 27 Deadline for notifying CES of anticipated spring term job opening.
Mid-Nov. Spring 2024 Federal and State Work-Study Referral Sessions in CES (Howarth 101).
Dec. 15 Last day of work for students with fall-term-only jobs.

2024 Spring Academic Term

Jan. 16 First day of spring term.
March 31 Priority deadlines for 2024–2025 financial aid applications. More specific information is included on the Student Financial Services website.
February–March Summer 2024 and academic year 2024–2025 student employment allocation requests will be solicited from department heads. Supervisors review and confirm academic year jobs for student staff members returning to work in their departments. Supervisors submit names of current student staff members for summer job openings.
March–May Summer campus job opportunities will be posted in Handshake and open for student applications.
April Student Employment Month! We encourage you to take time during April to acknowledge your student staff members' significant contributions to the Puget Sound community.
Mid-April 2024–2025 Federal and State Work-Study Referral Sessions in CES (Howarth 101). Continuing students can apply for available on-campus Federal and State Work-Study jobs. Students not returning to work in your department should be encouraged to take advantage of this process to identify other employment options.
May 5 Last day of work for students with 2023–2024 academic year or Spring Term 2024 jobs.
Mid-June Student Financial Services begins notifying continuing students about their financial aid packages (including their eligibility for Federal or State work-study) for academic year 2024–2025.

2024 Summer Academic Term

May 6–Sept. 2 Start and end dates for summer student employment.
June 30 End of fiscal year. All hours worked through June 30 must be approved in the upcoming payroll process.
