Professor, Business and Leadership
Alan Krause teaches Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, and Sustainable Business courses. He published a case on sustainable business and environmental law, with co-author Lisa Johnson, titled “The Pebble Mine.” With co-authors Sarah Moore and Leon Grunberg, he published two articles in organizational psychology: one that contrasts the expectations of white- and blue-collar workers and another that dispels some of the myths about differences between millennial employees and those of other generations. Recently, with co-author Sarah Moore, he has been researching a project that examines employee’s expectations that their employer will fulfill certain ideological expectations, titled “Ideological Currency in the Psychological Contracts of Corporate Manufacturing Employees.” This research seeks to demonstrate that employees in corporate manufacturing environments develop the same types of ideological expectations of their employers as do employees in people-oriented, nonprofit organizations. The study will further academic understanding of the psychological contract and provide practicing managers with insights that could improve their ability to attract and retain the best employees. Krause is also interested in how corporate entities allow biases to influence their judgements, ethics, and the information they provide to the public.
