Professor, Art and Art History
Janet Marcavage’s expertise combines traditional and contemporary printmaking. As an artist, she specializes in intaglio and screenprint. Her work also stems from an interest in visual language throughout the history of printmaking. Marcavage, twice the recipient of a Tacoma Artists Initiative Project Award, has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in Tacoma, Seattle, Portland, New York, Wales, and China. She was a visiting artist at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in Wuhan, China, where she held a solo exhibition of her prints. She also gives public presentations on contemporary art, printmaking, and installation art. Her work is represented by Augen Gallery in Portland, Ore., and was included in the book Printmakers Today (Schiffer, 2010).
