Violin Instructor
Kelly Marsh began studying violin with her mother, Rhonda Marsh, at the age of three, and has been teaching musicians in the Puget Sound region for over 16 years. In 2007, along with assisting in directing local orchestras, Ms.Marsh established and began teaching at her own private violin studio.
Ms. Marsh attended Central Washington University and Seattle University where she studied Violin Performance and Music Education under the tutelage of Dr. Carrie Rekopf and later, Dr. Quinton Morris.
Ms. Marsh has been a coach for the Kairos String Lyceum, Chamber Music Madness, Tacoma Youth Symphony, Evergreen Music Festival, and is a founding member and instructor for the TYSA’s Tacoma Young Violin Program. She has proudly performed with the Symphony Tacoma, Mid-Columbia Symphony and Oregon East Symphony.
Ms. Marsh resides in Tacoma where she continues to build on her 16-plus years of experience teaching violin and viola in private, group, and camp settings. She prepares and encourages her students to participate in recitals, performance classes, and masterclasses. Ms. Marsh’s teaching is informed by the Suzuki Method and Galamian’s principles of violin technique. She is dedicated to evolving her comprehensive curriculum for young beginners to advanced collegiate learners, and strives to make the process of music learning fun and interactive while guiding students to attain advanced academic techniques. Ms. Marsh's students have found success within the Tacoma Youth Symphony, WMEA’s Solo and Ensemble, WMEA’s All-State, NAfME’s All-Northwest, as well as in many college auditions. Kelly Marsh believes in establishing and fostering a love for music in every student that can be applied to daily life, creating confident, passionate, and creative individuals. Pulling from her own life experience, she understands the beauty, positivity and healing power that music can provide to us all.
