Kurt Walls was director of theatre production for the theatre arts department. In addition to designing faculty-directed plays, he taught classes in technical theatre and scene design, and mentored the Senior Theatre Festival. He designed numerous productions in the university’s Norton Clapp Theatre. Some of these include Into the Woods, Wilder One Acts, Tartuffe, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Cripple of Inishmann, The Skin of Our Teeth, The Cradle Will Rock, The Trip to Bountiful, As You Like It, Metamorphoses, Spring Awakening, In the Next Room, A Streetcar Named Desire, Rent, and Twelfth Night. Walls also designed scenery for over forty productions for Flying House Productions, the producing organization behind the Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus. Additionally, Walls has designed scenery for Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Book-It Repertory Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company, The Moore Theatre, Tacoma Little Theatre, and Tacoma’s Theatre on the Square. Prior to his position at Puget Sound, Kurt was the general manager of Pacific Studio, a design and fabrication firm that specialized in the entertainment and museum industries.
