Mengjun Li

Associate Professor, Asian Studies

Mengjun Li’s main field of interest is late imperial Chinese literature, with a focus on vernacular fiction and performance texts. She is working on a book manuscript that studies the earliest self-conscious genre fiction in Chinese history, in the context of flourishing commercial printing and other socio-political changes during the mid-17th through early-19th century. Before coming to Puget Sound, Li taught traditional Chinese literature and modern Chinese at The Ohio State University and College of the Holy Cross. She teaches in areas including cinematic adaptations of Chinese literature and advanced-level Chinese.
