Harp instructor
Patricia Wooster is the director and founder of South Sound Strings Harp Ensemble. In addition to teaching as a faculty member at Puget Sound, she served on the faculty at Pacific Lutheran University. Wooster studied harp with Lynne Palmer and holds degrees in music and education. Patricia Wooster has a 30-year teaching career and has performed as an orchestral harpist and soloist with numerous orchestras. She premiered new compositions for harp and orchestra, harp and concert band, and harp and choir. Locally, she performed as principal harpist with Tacoma Symphony and the Northwest Sinfonietta. Wooster also directs the Tacoma Youth Symphony’s harp training program. She has held leadership positions and is active in national and international harp organizations. Wooster recently completed seventeen years as Chairman of the World Harp Congress. She serves as a judge for regional, national, and international harp competitions.
