Izzie McClain is a Communications major from Shaker Heights, Ohio. In Tacoma, Izzie interned at Northwest Spay and Neuter Center, a small non-profit org that provides low-cost spay and neuter services for low-income residents. Izzie also served as a marketing intern at American Greetings for the Papyrus marketing team, where she worked on branding strategy, various marketing projects, social media channel management, and asset (photo and video) organization. Izzie’s thesis, Communicating Development: Doing Good versus Looking Good, combines the two fields of global development and communication studies, and explores the role of communication strategies on health crises, such as the AIDS epidemic, as well as the topic of celebrity humanitarianism.
