Dear Members of the Campus Community,

I am very pleased with the deep and broad engagement of our entire campus community in the strategic planning process, and invite you to participate in the next iteration of the development of the plan that will guide us over the next decade.

The Strategic Planning Steering Committee and our five Goal Teams of faculty, students, staff, alumni, and trustees have been hard at work reviewing feedback and bringing forward initiatives for consideration. For me this is the most exciting part of the process as our vision for the future comes into greater focus through the development of initiatives that will further distinguish Puget Sound as an outstanding liberal arts university.

Our goal teams and steering committee have reviewed every piece of feedback received and been thoughtful in their deliberations, aware that they serve this process with the university’s best interests in mind and at the recommendation of Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, ASUPS and others who recommended them to me for service. More than 100 members of our community are engaged in this work at this time.

Interim Reports Available for Review
The co-chairs of each team presented interim reports to the Strategic Planning Steering Committee at its February meeting and will present final reports in late March. The final presentations will conclude the work of each goal team. Here’s where you come in.

The interim reports are now available to members of the campus community for review and comment on a password-protected section of the strategic planning website. (These emerging ideas are still in development; we’re not quite ready to share them with the rest of the world!) If you have ideas to better inform and develop each team’s final report, please send your comments to strategicplan@pugetsound.edu no later than March 15, 2018 so that they can be considered in each team’s final report for potential inclusion in the final plan. We seek feedback that will help more fully form these initiatives as we consider which will best advance the education we offer to our students and prepare them and the university for the future that is before us.

The next iteration of the plan as a whole will be presented in three campus sessions in April. Look for an invitation soon, and meanwhile be sure to visit to strategic planning website for more information, including a timeline, consultants’ reports, and other important aspects of our work together.

Sincerely,

Isiaah
