Dear Members of the Campus Community,
University of Puget Sound enters the coming decade in a strong position: We are a stable and well-managed institution, ideally located here in Tacoma where the ethos of innovation, possibility, and individual determination is very much a part of our campus culture. Nowhere has this been more in evidence than in our work over the past year to imagine our university’s future. Together we have created a forward-looking, student-centered strategic plan that builds on our strengths and creatively anticipates and responds to the brave new world before us.
Following a year of listening to and learning from members of the campus community, as well as trustees, alumni, parents, and other friends of the university, I am pleased to share with you that on Friday our trustees endorsed our 10-year strategic plan, Leadership for a Changing World.
Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work! I am energized by the work underway by our faculty to further define and implement curricular innovation focused on high-impact learning experiences, and we will shortly begin design and implementation of other initiatives that will achieve our vision “to challenge and support our students as they become broadly and deeply educated lifelong learners, prepared to create and serve the future and become the world’s next generation of visionary leaders.”
I look forward to your continued contribution to our planning efforts as we guide our national liberal arts college to its next level of distinction and success.
Sincerely,
Isiaah
