Dear Members of the Campus Community,

With a heavy heart, I reach out to you, once again, following horrific acts of terrorism and violence in the world.

There are no words to express the grief we share for the victims of the mass shootings that took place earlier today at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

We have reached out to and confirmed that three-campus community members currently studying in New Zealand were not in Christchurch at the time of the attack. We are grateful for their safety, even as we acknowledge that the ramifications of this terrorist act deeply affect us all—especially the Muslim members of our community. Please know that as a university community, we are here to affirm and support you.

I invite us all to care for one another during this difficult time and seek assistance available to students through Counseling, Health, and Wellness resources and to faculty and staff members through Puget Sound’s Employee Assistance Program. Please also note that chaplain Dave Wright will be in Diversions from 2–3 p.m. today to talk with students who may wish to gather in an informal, supportive context.

With appreciation for all of you and all that you bring to this campus community,

Isiaah
