Dear Members of the Campus Community,
I am writing to share news of some upcoming administrative changes that I believe will significantly improve our ability to unify and strengthen our delivery of the great story of Puget Sound.
Effective July 5, the Office of University Relations and the Office of Communications will be integrated into a cohesive division. Incoming Vice President for University Relations Victor Martin will oversee this expanded portfolio within the division of university relations. With his record of success in development operations, alumni engagement and community relations, including enterprise-wide communications, brand strategy and marketing, and leading communications teams, Victor is uniquely qualified for the challenges and opportunities that this new structure will offer. We are leaning in, in a challenging environment, to our goal of being ever greater at telling the story of Puget Sound to our internal and external audiences and at the same time launching the capital campaign.
With this change, Gayle McIntosh will be able to focus on her Chief of Staff role, and we will benefit from her focused leadership, communication skills, and expert guidance in helping us fulfill the university’s mission and strategic plan goals and her operational oversight of the Office of the President. This is a plan that Gayle and I have been discussing for several months and the time is right to now put it into motion. I am grateful to have her continue in this role.
As Vice President of Communications, Gayle McIntosh has built a high-performing and expert communications team, who continue to show passion, creativity, and commitment to the university’s messaging goals. Similarly, Vice President Dave Beers has built a top-notch, strong constituent relations and fundraising team. Victor is fortunate to be able to start his work here with a truly impressive foundation in place. I am excited by the possibilities for the future and I hope you are too.
