Dear Campus Community,
I am pleased to announce that on Tuesday, April 15, Hrishikesh Hirway will deliver the Spring 2025 Susan Resneck Pierce Lecture in Public Affairs and the Arts. Hirway is an acclaimed musician and podcast creator, known for developing the popular podcast Song Exploder, which was adapted into a Netflix series. He has also co-hosted notable podcasts, including The West Wing Weekly, Home Cooking, and Partners.
You are invited to join us for an enlightening evening as Hirway examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping artistic expression during a moderated Q&A. The event continues Puget Sound’s commitment to exploring the complex landscape of AI and its intersection with human values. A reception will follow in the Oppenheimer Café.

Established in 2002 to honor President Emerita Susan Resneck Pierce, this series brings intellectuals, writers, and artists of prominence in public affairs and the arts to Puget Sound. This semester’s lecture was informed by faculty members working on the development of programming and curricula at Puget Sound focused on AI and Human Values. Please join me in thanking America Chambers, Mare Hirsch, Suzanne Holland, Robin Jacobson, Siddharth Ramakrishnan, Justin Tiehen, and Ariela Tubert for their contributions in support of this endeavor.
I look forward to seeing you at the lecture.
Sincerely,
Isiaah Crawford, Ph.D. | President
