The School of Music at Puget Sound actively trains and develops students interested in opera, operetta, and musicals. Our graduates have pursued successful careers that have taken them to major opera houses domestically and abroad, to summer stock productions, and to traveling companies.

Since 1974, forty performances of operas and musicals have been produced, either within the School of Music or, in the case of musicals, in collaboration with the Department of Theatre Arts. We also produce an annual scenes recital featuring excerpts from operas, operettas, and musicals.

In 2012, the School of Music's Opera & Musical Theater was granted the American Prize for Best Collegiate Production, for W. S. Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. Watch this award winning production on YouTube: Act I | Act II
