Residence Life is able to provide limited storage to students living on campus on a first-come, first-served basis.

Storage areas are designated in each community based on space and availability. Students using on-campus storage must agree to the terms of on-campus storage, acknowledging they understand the university is not responsible for the loss, damage, or theft of their stored belongings. An application is required to secure storage space. Applications will be approved on a rolling basis and until storage capacity has been reached.

Eligibility

You are eligible to place boxes into storage over the summer if your plans match one of the following scenarios:

  • Returning to on-campus housing for the upcoming year
  • Studying abroad for the fall or spring semester or entire academic year

You are not eligible to place boxes into storage over the summer if your plans match one of the following scenarios:

  • Graduating this semester
  • Living OFF campus next year
  • Taking a leave of absence for the upcoming semester
  • Planning to transfer or withdraw from the university before the upcoming semester

Storage Guidelines and Requirements

  • Only students who are approved to store in campus residence halls will be permitted to store. Items stored without approval will be disposed of.

  • No furniture or mini-refrigerators are permitted in university storage facilities. Loose or freestanding items, such as carpets, will not be accepted.

  • Storage is limited to four boxes or containers that meet the criteria below.

  • All items must be in sealed, shippable boxes, no larger than 18" x 18" x 24" (W x L x H) and weigh no more than 70 lbs. Suitcases will be accepted if they meet the size and weight limitations.

  • Each box must be labeled with a Puget Sound storage label (provided for you).  Storage labels must be filled out completely with all contact information.

  • Residence Life staff reserve the right to refuse to store any item(s) that may be hazardous or do not meet the listed criteria.

  • To store, students must sign the provided storage agreement form acknowledging that they agree to abide by the university storage terms and conditions including but not limited to understanding that the university is not responsible for the loss, damage or theft of your stored belongings. Students will have an opportunity to read this form in its entirety prior to signing.

  • Storage retrieval is not available during winter or summer breaks. There are no exceptions, so be sure to take important items such as passports and valuables. This includes items stored in Greek storage areas.

  • If personal items are not removed within one (1) month of the resident returning to campus they will be donated. Residents will be reminded of the storage clean-out deadline, but it is your responsibility to retrieve your items in a timely manner.

Apply to Store Your Items

You will not be allowed to store without a completed and approved application.

Application for Residential Storage

Residents will work with Resident Life student leaders to access storage and you will not necessarily be assigned to store where you are currently living or where you are assigned to live in the fall.

If you have additional items to store, information about off-campus facilities can be found at the bottom of this page.

Summer Bike Storage

Students living on campus in the fall are eligible to store bikes in Trimble Hall's bike storage room. There are only 50 first-come, first-serve spaces. Students should fill out the Application for Residential Storage, completing the contact information and the section related to bike storage, bypassing the "Date Storage is Needed - Date of Departure" section. The office of Residence Life will then contact you with a date and time to store your bike.

Bikes cannot be stored on outdoor bike racks such as those outside of the SUB and Seward Hall. Bikes left outdoors over summer break will be removed by Security Services. Bikes must be removed from Trimble storage in August before classes begin.

Storing in On-Campus Houses

There is absolutely no storage available in on-campus houses. Do not store in the house basements. Items left in house basements will be disposed of over the summer. Homesteaders who choose to leave personal belongings, such as kitchen items, in the house do so at their own risk. The university will not be responsible for items that are damaged, lost, or stolen.

Storing in Greek Houses

Please contact your GHC to store in your Greek Chapter House. The university does not manage and is not responsible for this process. An application is not required to store in a Greek house, however, storage in Greek houses is limited to respective Chapter members only.

Accessing Storage in August (move-in weekend)

Students who stored items, including bicycles, in residential storage for the summer should pick up those items over the weekend before classes begin. Residence Life will schedule specific storage access times during this weekend, and students will not be able to retrieve items outside of these scheduled access times.

Winter Storage

Students are eligible to place boxes into storage for winter break/spring semester if they are:

  • Currently living in campus housing and studying abroad for Spring
  • Plan on returning to campus housing in the Fall

Students are able to store no more 4 sealed, shippable, boxes no larger than 18" x 18" x 24" (W x L x H) and weighing no more than 70 lbs.

Accessing Storage in January

Please contact reslife@pugetsound.edu if you need to retrieve storage in January (at the start of the spring semester).
