The introductory banner (above) maps the distribution of PSM's vertebrate specimens on the iDigBio portal used to provide biodiversity data to the world. The other larger portal with 2.5 billion specimen records is the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). About 10% of records on GBIF have associated physical specimens. We use these portals to provide free access to specimen data as well allowing researchers to check the availability of physical specimens for loans or research visits.
See how our specimen data is being used in recent publications: GBIF specimen data use.

Other Portals
The Consortium of Pacific NW Herbaria or CPNWH hosts 3,156,755 records from 52 herbaria (as of July 2023). Note 10,000 can be retrieved at a time, so not all PSM specimens can be viewed in one search. Herbarium data and images are also published in GBIF and iDigBio portals.
Bird Wing and Tail Image Collection has 1,500 upper and lower views of wings and an upper view of tails hosted through Collins Library Digital Collections.
