Sound policies restore and sustain the natural environment in balance with a Healthy, prosperous and just community. The Sound Policy Institute brings together the campus and wider regional community for experiential teaching and learning on environmental issues at the nexus of science and policy.

The Institute provides opportunities for:

  • University curriculum and programs to incorporate outdoor experiential learning that engages pressing environmental issues in our community,
  • Faculty across a range of academic disciplines to integrate big ideas of sustainability into teaching and learning,
  • Community organizations to partner with the University to host events and experiences that foster life-long environmental learning at the nexus of science and policy.
