Community, Students

The university’s event for incoming students includes tours, class visits, and more.

Admitted undergraduate students and their families are invited to attend Puget Sound Bound, a special event that elevates the traditional campus visit. The event allows future Loggers to truly envision themselves at Puget Sound, and for many, it will be their first time setting foot on the campus they’ll call home for the next four years—an exciting moment in any prospective student’s college search process.

“Puget Sound has been named one of the country's most beautiful campuses, and Tacoma consistently ranks as a top college town in America. But rankings and articles aside, this campus is truly something special,” says Vice President for Enrollment Tim Whittum. “This will be my first time attending a Puget Sound Bound, and I am excited to see the looks on the faces of our prospective students and guests as they take in this amazing campus for the first time.”

At Puget Sound Bound, incoming students and their families will experience the vibrance of Puget Sound first-hand, with a full day of events and activities designed to immerse future Loggers in the campus community and introduce them to other members of the Class of 2029. Participants will go on a guided tour of the university’s beautiful, 97-acre campus, sit in on a real college class, meet current students and faculty who share their academic interests, get an overview of the financial aid process, and enjoy breakfast and lunch in Wheelock Student Center.

This year, Puget Sound Bound will be offered on the following dates:

  • Friday, March 28
  • Saturday, April 5
  • Friday, April 11
  • Friday, April 18

In lieu of class visits on Saturday, April 5, attendees will instead participate in an academic resource fair, where they’ll learn about the services available to support students throughout their time on campus. The evening before each event, families will have the opportunity to attend a welcome reception hosted by the Office of Admission, and students will have the chance to get to know other Loggers in a relaxed, informal setting. Early arrivals are welcome to explore campus on their own, attend campus events, and see the sights in Tacoma and the surrounding area.
