Financial Aid

Student Financial Services staff members are available to discuss financing options for the total cost of the M.A.T. program. Financial aid available to graduate students is composed of federal loans and a limited number of departmental scholarships.

Eligibility for need-based financial aid is based on demonstrated financial need. Financial need is defined as the difference between the total cost of attending Puget Sound and the amount you are expected to contribute as calculated by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The cost of attendance is the total cost of tuition billed by the university, plus a standard calculation for room and board allowance, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

The FAFSA must be completed each year. The first time you complete the FAFSA you will be considered for financial aid for the fall and spring terms.

***Summer term is considered the start of an academic year. You must complete another FAFSA to determine eligibility for summer financial aid. Priority deadline for FAFSA renewal is March 1.

Work Study

Graduate students are also eligible to apply for university work study positions that are not based on financial need.

Loan Repayment Information

Loans are a form of financial aid that must be repaid, with interest. Students are advised to review loan repayment information. M.A.T. candidates are part-time students during the summer term. Part-time enrollment may impact eligibility for financial aid and the timeline for loan deferments.
