APPRENTICESHIPS
Studio Theatre’s apprenticeships provide on-the-job training for early-career artists and administrators at one of the country’s most exciting and well-respected midsized theatres. An opportunity for both hands-on training and professional development, this 50-week program introduces motivated and qualified young professionals to the rigors and rewards of working at a fast-paced theatre in Washington DC’s rich and extensive theatre community. Studio Theatre gives apprentices real responsibilities, putting them to work alongside an accomplished company of artists, administrators, and designers. In addition to working in their designated department, apprentices learn about other departments and areas of the theatre through educational seminars.
Studio Theatre offers apprenticeships in the following areas: Artistic, Business, Carpentry, Company Management and Production, Development, Education, Electrics, Facilities and Events Management, Management, Marketing and Communications, Marketing and Multimedia, Sound and Projections, Stage Management.
INTERNSHIPS
Studio Theatre offers internships during the fall, spring, and summer. The summer program includes 10-13 positions in multiple areas of the theatre. Summer interns have a full-time schedule that includes weekly educational seminars, group work assignments, and social activities. Studio offers full-time and part-time internships during the fall and the spring (12-40 hours a week).
Internships are offered in a myriad of areas including: administration, arts management, audience services, business, development, education, it, literary, marketing, and production. Studio’s interns work alongside industry professionals behind the scenes and in the office, developing skills for future careers in the arts. Studio Theatre’s spring internship program is a part-time commitment, offering educational seminars, outside activities, and the opportunity for interns to immerse themselves in a variety of roles during Studio’s fall season. All Studio Theatre internships are unpaid.
