Occupational therapy students, under the direct supervision of licensed occupational therapists, provide evaluations and interventions for children in the Pediatric Teaching Clinic at Puget Sound. Children are referred to the clinic by their parents, teachers, pediatricians, or community therapists (with permission of parent or guardian). Reasons for referral to the clinic include difficulties in the following areas: daily living skills (self-care, dressing, eating), play skills, or cognitive, behavioral, or motor skills that interfere with participation in daily tasks.
Participants and families interested in the 2024 pediatric teaching clinic are expected to consistent attendance for the duration of the clinic. This consists of two 45-minute sessions per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, February through April. Sessions include an initial evaluation, an intervention plan, a home program based on assessments and goals, and a discharge evaluation. A parent or legal guardian must attend the first session; families are responsible for arranging their own transportation.

Those interested in participating in the pediatric teaching clinic, and are committed to attending all sessions, are asked to complete the 2024 Pediatric Referral Form.

All referral forms will be reviewed by clinic coordinators to ensure the experience is applicable for both the families and students. Forms will be accepted beginning in October, will all sessions scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
