The IACUC will routinely inspect university animal care, use, and housing facilities. The IACUC will determine if the following features of the facility are adequate, inadequate, or not applicable: floor space, ventilation, temperature and humidity control, illumination, animal caging, cleanliness, handling and storage of waste, species separation, access to food and water, food-nutrition, food-storage, records, and procedures.
Following inspection, the IACUC will report to the chair(s) of the department(s) using the facility and will describe deficiencies, if any, and provide recommendations, if any.
