Dr. Hastings was a key note speaker at the 10th Biennial South African Spinal Cord Association Congress in November 2012
She taught a pre-conference workshop to PTs and OTs on “How to” skills for teaching core functional skills to SCI wheelchair users and presented key note lectures on Prevention of Secondary Musculoskeletal Pain, Wheelchair Prescription of Optimal Postural Alignment and Function and a provocative talk entitled “Miss Steps in Rehabilitation- Where is the Way Forward.
Then for fun she visited an elephant sanctuary and rode a large bull elephant and took a photo safari returning with fabulous photos of the “big 5” and her favorites: giraffe and zebra.
