In 2000, the university erected its newest academic building and dedicated it in Lowry Wyatt's honor. Lowry Wyatt was a Puget Sound Board of Trustees member from 1970 to 1993, serving as board chair from 1986 until the end of his twenty-three year term. He worked at Weyerhaeuser and was a leading force in the Tacoma community. In 1981, Puget Sound awarded Mr. Wyatt an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service.
