By buying your dorm necessities from Grizz’s Garage instead of new from a store, you are helping improve our campus’s sustainability, supporting awareness, and getting the same items for way better deals!

Spring Grizz’s Garage Donation Stations

Donations

At the end of each school year, on-campus students are given the opportunity to donate gently used items to be sorted and resold to new, incoming students at the beginning of the school year. Donation stations, recycling dumpsters, and trash dumpsters are set up in North Quad, South Quad, and Greek Row.

If you are curious if an item that is not listed below can be donated, please contact us to check prior to donating the item to a donation station. Additionally, if you have an item that we do not accept and you would like a list of local donation centers that do accept those items, you are welcome to contact us for that information.

Grizz’s Garage Sale FAQs

All items are plugged in and tested to see if they turn on prior to being sold. However, if you happen to purchase an item that does not work, we ask that you dispose of the item properly - check to see if it is recyclable. If that item is a mini-fridge, it is not accepted in the trash and must be disposed of by an approved recycler - please look at this site for recycling options. Because the items are sold at low prices, we are unfortunately not able to issue a refund.

Unfortunately the items are sold on a first come, first serve basis. If you have a specific item in mind, we encourage you to hit the sale early - we’ve seen folks start lining up as early as one hour before open!.

Cash is preferred, but both forms of payment are accepted.

Because we have a small team of students, we are unable to help anyone move items into their rooms. We ask that you have prior arrangements or ask a friend for help with moving large items.

The Office of Sustainability works to secure donation and recycling partners in advance of move-out for items that we aren’t able to resell at Grizz Garage. For example, in 2023, we donated over 1600 lbs of clothing to a local Haitian church for their charity efforts, donated 30+ bags of bedding to the Men’s Mission to be used directly in their shelters, and sent a U-Haul truck full of foam mattress toppers for recycling through the NW Furniture bank. We also donate items we are not able to sell and that are leftover at the end of our sale to places like Goodwill, Mission Thrift, and Value Village.

Unfortunately, unapproved items or items in poor condition that are dropped off at our donation stations often need to be landfilled. We encourage students to clean their items, and make sure that they are in good condition before dropping them off at a donation station.
