Committees

Serves as a forum for discussing views and concerns of the student body that are pertinent to Dining and Conference Services, Security Services, and the Center for Health and Wellness Services. The committee forwards concerns put forth by the student body and proposes objectives to best serve the Puget Sound community. Come if you want snacks!

Members: Two Senators, serving staggered terms (Most senior Senator as chair): Three to Five students at large Two Senators. Serving staggered terms. Most senior Senator as chair; Three to Five students-at-large, appointed by the Vice President in consultation with the President; Director of Clubs and Student Interests; Director of Security Services, non-voting; Director of Dining and Event Services, non-voting; Director of Counseling, Health, & Wellness Services, non-voting; ASUPS Operations CoordinatorOffice Manager, non-voting (Also takes minutes).

Is in charge of reviewing all finance requests submitted by students, faculty and staff to seek financial assistance for programming and events. 

Members: Vice President, chair; Two to four students-at-large, appointed by the Vice President in consultation with the President; Two Senators, who should serve staggered terms; President, non-voting; Director of Business Services, non-voting.

Finance committee meets once a week, as designated by the chair.

Meets during the Spring semester and is responsible for gathering nominations and selecting recipients for various ASUPS and other awards and scholarships. They will award these outstanding participatory students, faculty, and staff according to the selection processes of each scholarship or award. Awards are given each Spring at the University Leadership Awards Ceremony.

Members: One Senator, chair; Three students-at-large. Appointed by the current President in consultation with the current Vice President; ASUPS President; Dean of Students or Dean of Students’ designee; One member of the faculty, chosen in accordance with regular Faculty Senate Committee appointment procedures.

Meets as needed.

Is responsible for evaluating the needs, problems, and concerns of the campus. It serves to do outreach to collect student concerns, advise senators working on senate projects, and generate new projects for the Director of Clubs and Student Interests. 

Members: Two Senators, most senior Senator as chair; Three to five students at large. Appointed by the President in consultation with the Vice President; Director of Clubs and Student Interests; President, non-voting.

Serves as a first level evaluator of ASUPS documents, policy and procedure, while ensuring consistency, accuracy and legality. Governance Committee also meets to evaluate and review the ASUPS Constitution, Bylaws and any other ancillary documents and present recommendations to Senate. Governance Committee meets as determined by the Chair.

Members: Two Senators, most senior senator shall act as chair; Three students-at-large. Appointed by the President in consultation with the Vice President; Vice President, non-voting; President, non-voting; Vice President and University Counsel, or designee, non-voting.

Organizes and coordinates all ASUPS elections in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, and Senate. They enforce campaign guidelines and regulations to ensure fair and just elections. The Election Committee meets as determined by the Chair.

Members: Two Senators, most senior senator shall act as chair; Five (5) students-at-large. Appointed by the Vice President in consultation with the President; Vice President, non-voting; Director of Events and Public Relations, non-voting.

Meets as needed.

Is responsible for evaluating budget requests of all ASUPS Clubs, Medias and Programmers, and balancing the budget in a fair and equitable manner. The Budget Committee meets during the Spring Semester before presenting the final budget to the ASUPS Senate.

Members: Vice President, Chair; Two students-at-large, Appointed by the President in consultation with the Vice President; Two Senators; President, non-voting; Director of Business Services, non-voting; President-Elect, non-voting; Incoming Director of Business Services, non-voting, if appointed at the time of meeting; Vice President-Elect, non-voting.

Meets as needed.

Recommends approval and oversee the Green Fee and Expressions Fund.

Members: One Senator, chair; Director of Clubs and Student Interests, Two Students-at-Large, appointed by the Vice-President; Chair of the Sustainability Advisory Committee, or their Designee (non-voting); Director of Intercultural Engagement, or their Designee (non-voting); Director of Business Services (non-voting).

Held at the discretion of the chair at least once a month.

To create internal equity within ASUPS Student Leadership Stipends.

Members: Vice President, or their Designee, chair; One Senator; One Programmer, appointed by the Programmer Board; One Media Head, appointed by the Media Board; One Student-at-Large, appointed by the President; Human Resources Officer; Director of Business Services (non-voting); Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (non-voting).

The committee meets prior to the fiscal year budgeting process or when it is necessary to respond to appeals or new stipend positions.

To discuss and address current diversity issues within the ASUPS and at the University of Puget Sound.

Members: Senate Identity-based Clubs Liaison, chair; Vice President; Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (non-voting); One Senator, 3 to 5 students-at-large, appointed by the Vice President in consultation with the President.

Held once a month, at the discretion of the chair. This committee must advertise its meeting times to the student body.
