During fall of 2024, a conversation started with members of ASUPS and senior Student Affairs staff about shifting day to day club management from ASUPS to Student Affairs. The idea was then presented to the Board of Trustees. The concept of the management shift would allow more oversight of critical club operations such as travel policies, leadership development, and high risk club support. From those initial conversations, a small group of ASUPS Executives (Chloe Pargmann, Bella Sanchez, and Jack Simermeyer) and Student Affairs senior leaders began to update the Constitution in accordance with this change. In addition to the club management shift, the group also took the opportunity to consider other changes to the document that underscore a responsiveness to the changing landscape of Puget Sound and our student population, and aligns the ASUPS Constitution with an aspect of the Faculty Code.
The next step in this process is for the student body to review and vote, positively or negatively, on the proposed changes.
There are three documents available to you as you review this proposal.
- Current ASUPS Constitution
- ASUPS Constitution with proposed changes
- Detailed list of all proposed changes
If you have any questions about these proposed changes before you take your vote, please complete this form (university login required) and we will follow up with you as soon as possible.
This is an exciting opportunity to serve our student body in a new way, while also giving space to ASUPS to provide more advocacy for the broad student population.
