We are a multitalented team of professional communications, design, and social media experts who collaborate with the campus community to share the Puget Sound story.

We’re here to help you share the distinctions, priorities, and successes of Puget Sound with the campus community, prospective students, and the broader community, including alumni, neighbors, donors, and beyond.

Veronica Craker
Veronica Craker, Director of Media Relations
Veronica is a former journalist and avid storyteller with a history of working in nonprofit and higher education industries. She has more than a decade of experience in print and broadcast news and five years dedicated to post-secondary education. Having previously contributed to the marketing and communications teams at Northwest Nazarene University and Pacific Lutheran University, Veronica has a proven track record of effective communication and engagement. Outside of work, you’ll find Veronica nurturing her love for gardening or exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband Craig, their daughter Catarina, and their crazy pup Masha.

Alex Crook
Alex Crook, Photographer & Videographer

Alex brings over 10 years of experience in photography and filmmaking, and is responsible for the production of visual storytelling here on campus. From Arches Magazine to The Hatchet, video shorts to social media posts, his work helps share our collective story with the world. He's here to help document and celebrate student research projects, art and performances, notable faculty, alumni stories, and more. When he's not behind the camera, Alex can be found in his garden, spending time with his family, or hiking in the Olympic National Forest.

Jonny Eberle
Jonny Eberle, Copywriter

Jonny writes compelling copy for the university’s digital and print channels, including stories for The Hatchet and content for the website. When not busy chasing down leads and capturing quotes, he writes speculative and historical fiction, bakes bread, travels, reads, dabbles in podcasting, and slowly tackles the many, many projects around his 112-year-old house. Jonny has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from Northern Arizona University and a certificate in strategic communications from Portland State University. He lives in North Tacoma with his wife and daughter, a dog, three typewriters, and far too many books.

Jennifer Egenolf
Jennifer Egenolf, Director of Community & Brand Management

Jennifer is an experienced relationship marketer and brand manager that has worked for global corporations and academic institutions throughout her extensive career. At Puget Sound she is all about the brand, and creating valuable connections in the community. As an Aggie, she has no problem “bleeding maroon” for the Loggers. Aside from promoting our reputation, Jennifer is a Reiki Master, labyrinth enthusiast, and nature fan that thoroughly enjoys the Evergreen state’s amazing sea life and gorgeous scenic vistas. When not traveling about to see her grown children, she and her two cats are happy to call Grit City home.

Tina Hay
Tina Hay, Arches Editor

Tina has been leading the Arches team since 2019; before that, she spent 22 years as editor of the Penn Stater, the Penn State alumni magazine. Under her leadership the Penn Stater won more than 300 national awards, including the Sibley Award, given by Newsweek and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education to the nation’s best college or university magazine. She’s an avid nature photographer and has traveled to Iceland, Colombia, Ecuador, and the Bering Sea, among other locations, in pursuit of bird photography. She also enjoys pickleball, knitting, and hanging out with her two cats.

Michael Noesen
Michael Noesen, Director of Events

Michael has a strong passion for producing engaging events that prioritize the attendee experience and go beyond project expectations. He is responsible for overseeing the events program that focuses the university's engagement of external donors, constituents and communities within University Relations. Michael holds a double bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science from Western Washington University. Additionally, he is recognized as a Certified Meeting Professional by the Event Industry Council and is a past board president of the Washington Chapter of Meeting Professionals International. Outside of work, Michael is an avid cook and baking, tennis enthusiast, and advocate for senior dog adoption.

Lindsay Nyquist
Lindsay Nyquist, Associate Vice President for Marketing & Communications

Lindsay oversees the marketing and communications function at the university, constantly looking for new opportunities to tell and refine the stories of Loggers everywhere. She gets way too excited about leadership and management styles, visual design, social media, organizational systems, and grammar. Lindsay holds a bachelor’s degree in English and communication from the University of Delaware, a master’s degree in higher education administration from Drexel University, and a certificate in marketing strategy from Cornell University. She is always ready for international travel, a Tacoma Rainiers game, or a camping trip, and lives near Ruston with her husband, dog, and cat.

Kristofer Nystrom, Art Director
Kristofer Nystrom, Art Director

Kris is an award-winning art director and designer with years of experience in branding and graphic design for both print and digital collateral. Specializing in strong visual concepts, he has driven results for multinational clients, as well as many local small businesses. In addition, he’s a skilled illustrator—you can see some of his illustration work in Arches magazine and on merch for Tacoma coffee shop Cosmonaut Coffee Co. An avid outdoorsman, Kris enjoys mountain biking and road cycling, fly fishing, and skateboarding. On good-weather days, you’ll find him cruising the Sound on his fully restored 1948 Folkboat, Tornado.

Jason Rotchstein
Jason Rotchstein '99, Associate Director of Events

Jason is an events professional with over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and higher education sectors. A self-professed “event geek” with a  passion for constituent engagement and event planning, Jason has executed a broad range of successful engagement events for Puget Sound including annual scholarship luncheons, giving society events, building dedications, staff appreciation events, and campaign galas. With each experience he strives to make donors and constituents feel appreciated, inspired, and more connected to the mission and goals of the university. When not planning events, Jason enjoys baking, attending Broadway shows with his nephew, and all things Star Wars.

Barbara Weist
Barbara Weist, Web Manager

Barbara manages the university website. She has overseen four website redesigns for Puget Sound and works continuously to improve the user experience—for both site visitors and campus content editors. She creates training and provides advanced support for website editors across campus. Off campus, Barbara taxis her children to violin lessons and climbing classes, enjoys outdoor pursuits, and reads voraciously. Her undergrad degree is in English and computer science, while her graduate degree is in environmental adventure education.

Calvin Werts '23
Calvin Werts '23, Social Media Manager & Designer

Calvin is a skilled storyteller specializing in digital content creation and design. Having developed and managed social media campaigns for Olympic athletes, award-winning podcasts, and global corporations alike, Calvin has set his sights on highlighting the abundantly unique and authentic student-experiences fostered at Puget Sound. During his time as a student, Calvin was a prominent varsity athlete and member of Greek Life, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. When he’s offline, Calvin loves to participate in all sports involving a board while listening to America’s favorite boyband, Brockhampton.
