In this section

Sociology and Anthropology are disciplines defined by their engagement with the social world. Our focus can be local or global in scope, but our disciplinary traditions have long relied on an experiential, immersive exploration of cultural difference as the principal pathway to understanding. In these disciplines, we concern ourselves with the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that shape people's experiences and identities, as well as the patterns that characterize our collective lives. SOAN students are intrepid, curious, accomplished, and worldly. Our curriculum fosters a truly immersive, experiential, and transformative education that links the classroom, the community, and the world.
