About VPN

A virtual private network (VPN) provides a secure and encrypted connection to the university's network from a computer located off campus. When you connect to vpn.pugetsound.edu using our VPN client, your device will behave as if it were on the campus network. This means you can access restricted resources such as certain library systems and university file servers. Using VPN also offers greater security by protecting your internet traffic from potential eavesdropping while you may be working on a public WiFi network (e.g. airport, coffee shop).

Please note that a VPN does not protect your device against viruses and malware. For free anti-virus software recommendations, see recommended software for personal machines.

The university utilizes GlobalProtect VPN. To connect to VPN, you must have a reliable internet connection off-campus.
