Puget Sound’s virtual desktop (vDesk) provides anytime, anywhere access to a wide range of software and tools, including Microsoft Office and discipline-specific applications such as Mathematica and SPSS.
Faculty, staff, and students can access vDesk from computers, smartphones, or tablets from both on-campus or off-campus networks. vDesk looks like a Windows 10 Desktop.
You can choose to install the VMware Horizon client which will remain installed on your device(s) or use the HTML method which will not remain installed on your device(s).
- To install, see detailed installation instructions for Windows or MacOS. On a mobile device, search for "VMware Horizon Client" in the Apple App Store or Google Play store. Enter "vdesk.pugetsound.edu" as the name of the connection server.
- If you prefer to use vDesk without installing additional software onto your personal device, simply go to vdesk.pugetsound.edu in a browser and select the HTML Access option. For detailed instructions, see VMware Horizon HTML Access.
More information, including a list of software on vDesk for the '23-'24 academic year, is available on the vDesk FAQ.
